Masvidal says he is open to facing St.Pierre: 'I want to break his face'

Holder of the title of 'Most Thick' in MMA welcomes the duel against former welterweight and middleweight champion, retired since 2017

Former welterweight (up to 77kg) and middleweight (up to 83,9kg) champion, Georges St.Pierre, has not fought since 2017, but the name of the sports legend remains relevant within MMA. With speculation about a clash against Khabib Nurmagomedov, this time it was Jorge masvidal who took advantage of the Canadian's name to try to promote a confrontation. In an interview with 'Submission Radio', the 'bad boy' made the statement.

“Well, they usually say that I resurrect fighters and they retire later. So I wouldn't mind if GSP (Georges St.Pierre) joined that group. In all honesty, as a competitor, I want to break his face. I wanted to go there (in the octagon) and give him everything I have. But I respect everything he did”, said Jorge.

Even though he exuded his usual confidence, Masvidal did not try to minimize the Canadian's achievements within the sport. With his comings and goings to MMA, Georges achieved great achievements and established himself as one of the best athletes in the history of the sport.

“He was away for I don't know how long, came back and beat (Michael) Bisping for the legitimate middleweight title. The guy is tough. It's an animal. I would give myself with all my soul, because he is that good,” he said.

Without fighting since the fight against Bisping, when he defeated the American and won his second Ultimate title in different divisions, St.Pierre has been considering a return to MMA for a super fight against the lightweight champion (up to 70,3 kg.), Khabib Nurmagomedov.

The UFC, the Russian and the Canadian have already shown their interest in the fight taking place, however, the negotiations could come up against the figures and the weight at which the fight could take place, as GSP would not be willing to go through a severe cut in weight at 38 years of age.
