The rooster champion Henry Cejudo has already made it clear interest in defending his reign against José Aldo in 2020. However, Petr yan seems to have disliked the champion's stance on challenging an athlete who has lost in the division. The Russian, third in the category ranking, says he has lost respect for the North American.

In an interview with the website B.J. Penn, Yan even referred to Cejudo as 'Triple Clown', in reference to 'Triple C', as Cejudo was champion of two UFC divisions simultaneously, in addition to winning the gold medal in wrestling at the Beijing Olympics, in 2008.

PUBLICITY:

“He is the 'Triple Clown' who has been trying to turn our sport into a circus. Cejudo knows I'm a terrible fight for him, and that's why he's been trying to avoid me. I love fighting and I accept anyone who deserves to face me. It doesn't matter if I sweep the division before or after winning the belt. I can only guarantee one thing: I will never ask to fight someone who comes from a defeat”, said the Russian.

Afterwards, Yan criticized the champion's choice to unravel José Aldo, who debuted in bantamweight with a setback to Marlon moraes, on the 13th, in a tight decision by the judges.

PUBLICITY:

“I lost all respect for Henry Cejudo. He doesn't want to defend his belt against the real number one challenger. He prefers to face a fighter without any wins at bantamweight and who has lost two in a row, as well as being far from his peak. The UFC shouldn't support this kind of thing if it wants to maintain the relevance of its belt. Honestly, this is bad for the sport,” he concluded.
