Khabib signals retirement again: 'I don't know when, but it's not far away'

Since signing a contract with Ultimate, Khabib Nurmagomedov He's been showing that he's here in MMA to stay. Undefeated in his career and with the UFC lightweight title (up to 70,3 kg.) on his resume, the Russian shows, fight after fight, why he is one of the most important names in the company today. The 'Eagle', however, once again worried his fans after commenting on a possible retirement. The athlete, who has already stated that he does not intend to continue in the sport, said that his retirement is close. The statement was made to 'RT Sport'.

“Well, we don’t have a plan as to when we will stop, but I know it’s not too far away,” Khabib said.

The lightweight champion confirmed his father's version that he would like to have just two more fights in professional MMA and then retire as the title holder and undefeated. With 28 presentations, the plan was to complete 30 and leave the sport for good.

Nurmagomedov, however, stated that his thoughts are not on hanging up his gloves. The fighter will have one of the main commitments of his life on April 18, when he will perform, against Tony Ferguson, one of the most anticipated presentations in the recent history of the sport.

“I don’t want to think about the future. I still have to survive until April. I still have to fight. I need to win. So I don't want to think too far ahead. Now, we have an opponent. Tony Ferguson He is a very serious opponent. I think it's necessary for me to have this fight and then we'll sit down and see what happens”, said the Russian.

Khabib's last performance took place in September, at UFC 242, when the athlete faced the former interim champion, Dustin poirier, in a valid fight for the unification of the belt. On that occasion, Nurmagomedov presented his fans with yet another dominant performance and emerged victorious via submission in the third round.
