Light heavyweight (up to 93kg.) Vinícius Mamute will have another chance to try for his first victory since signing his professional contract with Ultimate. Without triumphing for the company, the combatant has a duel scheduled against Tyson Peter at UFC Auckland, New Zealand, on February 23. The news was released by the company itself.

Mamute's meeting with Tyson marks a clash between fighters who need to win to improve their situations within the organization. Just like the Brazilian, Pedro also comes from a losing streak and will need to defeat his rival to stay alive in one of the most important MMA institutions in the world.

In his last commitment, Vinícius ended up defeated by Paul Craig, in a duel that represented one of the fights of the UFC Mexico City. On that occasion, the Brasilia native ended up succumbing to his opponent's jiu-jitsu and was submitted in the first round.

Mamute made his debut for the company after being discovered on the reality show promoted by the organization's president: 'Dana White's Contender Series'. After beating John Allen Arte in August last year, the athlete got his passport stamped and had the first opportunity to officially put on UFC gloves in January. The debut, however, did not go as planned. Vinícius ended up being knocked out in the first round by Alonzo Menifield and his plan for immediate success was frustrated.

In his second performance, Mamute suffered a tough knockout again. In confrontation against Erik Anders, in June, the Brasilia native once again felt the pressure of a rival's strength and fell, just like in his first appearance, in the first round. With two knockouts and one submission suffered, Vinícius enters, in February, for the most important fight of his life.

Tyson, in his recent retrospect, needs to erase the defeats suffered to Ovince St Preux, in June last year, and for Mauritius Shogun, in December. Without fighting for almost a year, the Australian must win to return to the category's radar, which is currently dominated by Jon Jones.
