Khabib's father promotes a duel between his son and Ferguson: 'A fight for the fans!'

With each passing day, the moment when the UFC will confirm the long-awaited duel between Khabib Nurmagomedov e Tony Ferguson, in the fight for the lightweight belt (up to 70,3kg.). After the Russian's manager published an image of the signed contract, this time, the 'Eagle's' father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, took to social media to promote the Russian's match against the North American. An image of the two fighters followed by a text was published on the coach's official Instagram account.

“We signed the contract and we are on our way to becoming the best, regardless of the division. This fight is being built to be among the best. It's the best time to be the best. Both athletes are in a great phase, and I want to say that there have never been any athletes in the UFC with 12 consecutive victories. It's a dream for all fans of mixed martial arts. We will do everything in our power to bring victory to Russia”, concluded Abdulmanap.

If the duel is confirmed, this will be the fifth time that Ultimate has tried to promote a meeting between Khabib and Ferguson. The athletes have already been scheduled to fight on four occasions, however, injuries (two for each athlete) forced the fighters to be removed from previous cards.

In April, the athletes will exchange forces in the best moments of their careers. While Tony, after hitting Donald Cerrone, in June, at UFC 238, completed his 12th fight without defeat, Nurmagomedov remained undefeated in his career after winning Dustin poirier in a fight valid for the unification of the category title, in September.

The meeting between the Russian and the North American is considered, by many, one of the most anticipated fights in recent MMA, as they are two high-level competitors who are fully capable of remaining at the top of the category and appearing in a position of importance in the company's weight-for-weight ranking.

Currently, Khabib is only behind Jon Jones, light heavyweight champion (up to 93kg.), but, after he beat Poirier, he came into conflict with Ultimate claiming that he should be promoted to number one. If Ferguson wins, there is a possibility that the company will rethink the case and present the Russian with the top of the group of the best in the organization.
