Undefeated in the UFC, Rogério Bontorin faces Ray Borg at UFC Rio Rancho, in February

The Brazilian Rogerio Bontorin is close to taking another step towards the elite of the flyweight division (up to 56,7kg.). After a good track record since his UFC debut at the beginning of 2019, the Paraná native will have a tough fight against Ray Borg in one of the fights at UFC Rio Rancho, on February 15th. The information was released by 'Combate'.

Bontorin caught the attention of Ultimate after participating in the reality show 'Dana White's Contender Series', headed by UFC president, Dana White. On that occasion, the athlete got his professional contract with the organization after beating compatriot Gustavo Gabriel Silva, in a submission that took place in the second round of the dispute.

Rogério officially put on his Ultimate gloves on February 2nd of this year, when he faced Magomed Bibulatov. The fight, which marked one of the presentations of UFC Fortaleza, was won by the Paraná native with a majority decision by the judges.

The Brazilian returned to the Octagon six months later, at UFC Uruguay. On that occasion, the athlete faced his compatriot Raulian paiva and emerged victorious by technical knockout, after his opponent suffered a deep cut on his right eyebrow.

Against Borg, Bontorin will have the chance to establish himself within the division and enter the company's radar as a possible future challenger in the category that, today, is dominated by Henry Cejudo.

Ray arrives at the commitment against the Brazilian needing to win. Although he came from a triumph in his last appearance, when he beat Gabriel Silva from Espírito Santo in July, the North American suffered two defeats in a row in his performances before the positive result.

In 2017, Borg received the opportunity to fight for the category belt, which, at the time, belonged to the legendary Demetrious Johnson. In the fight, Ray ended up succumbing to the former champion's excellent jiu-jitsu and was submitted in the fifth round.

At 27 years old, Rogério has already performed on 18 occasions since he debuted as an MMA professional. In total, the Brazilian has 16 victories, one defeat and one unsuccessful fight.

Ray, 26, in turn, has 14 fights, with 12 triumphs and two setbacks.

UFC Rio Rancho, in Albuquerque, so far, has only one confirmed fight: rose mountain against Mara Romero Borella.
