Former UFC heavyweight champion (up to 120,2 kg), Randy Couture, gave his fans a real scare at the end of October, after suffering a heart attack and undergoing emergency surgery. Almost a month after the incident, the athlete made a point of updating his health status and stating, in an interview with 'TMZ Sports', that he is recovering well from the unforeseen event.

“It's okay, man. I feel amazing. I should have done this procedure a long time ago, I think,” said the athlete.
On October 24, Randy arrived at his gym to train when he felt unwell. The athlete drove himself to the hospital so he could check what was happening; That was when the statement was made that it had been a heart attack.
At 56 years old, Couture is considered one of the most important athletes in the history of MMA. Along with legends like Rodrigo Minotauro, Marco Ruas, Royce gracie, Chuck Liddell and others, the former fighter was responsible for spreading the name of mixed martial arts to the level it is today.
With almost 14 years of career, the American performed on 30 occasions and went on to win two company belts, one in the heavyweight division in 2000 and the other in the light heavyweight division in 2003.
The athlete, together with another sports legend, Chuck Liddell, built one of the greatest rivalries in the history of the sport. The fighters faced each other on three occasions, with one victory for Couture and two for the 'Ice Man'.
In his professional record, Randy has 19 wins and 11 losses. The fighter retired from MMA after a historic setback suffered for Lyoto Machida, in 2011, when the athlete was surprised by the Brazilian with a front kick, straight to the chin, which led to the athlete being knocked out immediately, declaring the end of his career after the presentation.
Couture is a member of the UFC Hall of Fame, as well as being the oldest athlete to win a title with the organization, at 44 years old.
