It is not new that the duel between Donald Cerrone e Conor McGregor has been speculated. However, at least as far as the North American is concerned, the meeting is closer to being announced than ever. According to 'Cowboy', his agents are negotiating to finally announce the fight, which could happen in January, when the Irishman, last week, stated that he will be returning. The information was released in a statement to 'TMZ Sports'.

“I think our teams are in negotiations trying to reach an agreement. Everything seems to be going well. I think it would be a big fight. Very fun. I provoked him, he provoked me. All in all, it's a fight that everyone would like to watch. It's going to be a fun fight. He’s a great fighter,” said Cerrone.

Rumors about a fight between Conor and Donald began after the Irishman praised the North American's performance after his rival hit Alexander Hernandez, in a fight valid for UFC Brooklyn, which took place in January of this year. On that occasion, 'Cowboy' managed a beautiful knockout over his compatriot and, as a bonus, received US$100 (around R$390), earning the Fight and 'Performance of the Night' bonus.

Although he comes from two consecutive defeats, Cerrone's numbers are still a great attraction for any fighter who wants to hold a challenging duel. The fighter, today, boasts the highest number of victories within the UFC. In total, there are 23 achievements.

In order to rediscover the path to victory, 'Cowboy' sees in the duel against McGregor the possibility of returning to the top of the category, a condition he lost when he was defeated by Justin gaethje in its last performance, in September this year.

“Just sign the damn deal. Let’s do it soon”, concluded Donald.

In his professional career, Cerrone, 36, has already given 50 presentations. There are 36 wins, 13 losses and one fight without result.

McGregor has been on a career hiatus since being defeated by Khabib Nurmagomedov, in a fight valid for the lightweight title (up to 70,3 kg.), at UFC 229, which took place in October last year. The Irishman was trying to regain his title, won in November 2016. Conor was stripped of the title due to inactivity within the sport.
