Randy was part of a generation of 'thick men' in mixed martial arts. During his almost 15-year career, the fighter faced big names in the sport. Those who had the privilege of attending two performances saw the warrior fight against names such as: Vitor belfort, Pedro Rizzo, Tito Ortiz, Brock Lesnar, Gabriel Napao, Rodrigo Minotauro and, of course, Chuck Liddel, who is considered by many to be his biggest opponent in the sport.

In a successful career, the 'Natural' had his end in the sport declared after a brutal defeat to the Brazilian Lyoto Machida. At the time, the fighters were competing in one of the UFC 129 fights. The Brazilian, who was on the rise in the company, ended up scoring an impressive knockout in the second round of the fight. In a stroke of rare happiness, Machida managed to land a well-aimed kick against the American's chin, which immediately led to the legend's knockout.
