In the imbroglio involving athletes in the UFC Mexico City, Yair maintained his position by stating that he did not touch Jeremy's eye when the athletes were in a frank exchange, in the opening seconds of the fight. When he realized that the fight would not resume after the five-minute grace period for recovery had passed, the Mexican clearly lost control in the Octagon. Visibly irritated, the athlete shouted, cursed and encouraged people to speak out.

Spectators, outraged by what had happened, began throwing objects at the platform and the fighters had to be removed from the scene under security escort.

Hours later, the fighters met at the hotel, still in Mexico City, and what seemed like a friendly conversation almost ended in confusion. After exchanging a few words, Stephens pushed the Mexican, who responded. At the time, the athletes had to be separated by people who were on site.

The duel between the two marked a confrontation between two fighters who are aiming for a better position in the featherweight rankings (up to 65,7kg). Rodriguez, seventh, and Jeremy, eighth, were looking for victory to try to get closer to the champion, Max Holloway.

PUBLICITY:

“I only follow the best in the division and I hope that they (UFC), after 10 fights for them, of which eight were victories, plus fight bonuses and 'Performances of the Night', will give me the opportunity to fight for the belt soon ”, published the athlete.

Currently, Rodriguez is 27 years old. The fighter, who debuted in Ultimate in 2014, has had 16 fights, with 13 wins, two losses and one unsuccessful fight.
