Former UFC and current Bellator signing, Gegard Mousasi, still hasn't swallowed the defeat suffered by Rafael Lovato, which ended up giving him his middleweight belt (up to 83,9kg) in June this year. Mousasi, who won the repeat of a duel against Lyoto Machida this weekend, at Bellator 228, shortly after the triumph, asked for the desired confrontation against Lovato and stated the certainty of victory and recovery of his title.

“In the next fight, I will kill him. I swear to god. If I don't knock him out, I won't count it as a victory. Because I know what I'm capable of doing and he's going to die. Literally. You'll see. I'll knock you out. 100% sure, I guarantee it,” said Gegard.

In addition to exuding confidence in victory over the last tormentor, the athlete made a point of nullifying any possibility of being defeated by the North American again. Mousasi, who after the setback had his streak of eight consecutive victories ended, promised to hang up his gloves if there is a new negative result.

“If I lose, I will retire. I promise you. I am not kidding. I'm not trying to sell the fight. The next fight will be spectacular, because I'm a spectacular guy”, commented the fighter.

If the commitment is confirmed and Gegard's plans to regain the belt are frustrated, Mousasi, if he fulfills his promise to retire from the sport, would be stepping away from fighting at the age of 34.

Gegard debuted for Bellator after playing for Ultimate for four years. The athlete debuted for his former club in April 2013 and retired from the company in April 2017. His debut for Bellator took place in October 2017. With the new organization, Mousasi made five commitments and emerged victorious on four occasions.
