“I’m only 2kg. above the limit (52,1kg.) and I still have seven weeks left. I know that breastfeeding helps you burn calories without even noticing it, and there's all the training. My weight is okay, I'm really surprised by it. My idea is to burn the fat that I acquired because of the milk and all that, and gain muscle mass”, said the athlete.

The fighter also stated that the UFC has helped her with her diet. According to Dern, motherhood has occupied her free time and, therefore, the company has helped her prepare for her next fight.

“I'm focused on my diet and training. The UFC has been sending me meals every day and that helps me a lot, because I don't have time to cook, having a child. They have helped me a lot”, confessed Mackenzie.

Regarding her next opponent, the Brazilian declared that she did not know in depth the qualities of Amanda ribas. However, Dern said he is aware that she is a dangerous athlete. With this in mind, the fighter has been outlining her strategy to win yet another victory in Ultimate.

“I don't know her that much, but I know it's far from an easy fight. She has a good ground game. I don't know much about his stand-up fight, because his victory in the UFC was quick. I didn’t get to see much, but I think it’s going to be a fun fight,” said Dern.

Ribas debuted in the UFC with a good victory over emily whitmire, in June this year. On that occasion, the Minas Gerais native managed to submit her opponent before three minutes of the second round. The triumph marked the second victory in a row for Amanda, who has eight fights in her professional record.

Mackenzie, in turn, is looking to increase his number of career victories and maintain his unbeaten run, which has already lasted three years. In seven fights, the Brazilian had her arm raised at the end in all of them.
