The Brazilian Gilbert Durinho did well in his welterweight debut (under 77kg), this Saturday (10), at UFC Montevideo, in Uruguay. The athlete showed all his quality in jiu-jitsu and managed to dominate the Russian Alexey Kuncheko, who was undefeated in his career. After three rounds, the Niteroi native was declared the winner in a unanimous decision by the judges.

The fighter entered the octagon with the expectation of achieving a good performance to be able to guarantee himself within the new division. Under the claim that he suffered a lot when cutting weight in the lightweight division (up to 70,3kg), the athlete needed to prove that he could be competitive in the top division.

Durinho accepted the fight two weeks in advance and showed his professionalism as an MMA athlete. The Niteroi native's opponent, even though he had only had three Ultimate fights before this Saturday, already had respect from the fighters. With 20 fights and not knowing what defeat means, the Russian sought to maintain his unbeaten record in his career.

With the triumph over the Russian, Gilbert added his third consecutive victory and the 16th in his career.

The fight

Alexey started the fight by risking a low kick, which exploded into the Brazilian's legs. Durinho returned the same coin and unbalanced his opponent. The combat remained tense with attacks from both sides. Gilbert risked a high kick, but the blow stopped in the Russian's guard. Kunchenko kept throwing low kicks and the Brazilian also responded. Halfway through the stage, Durinho managed to get a good takedown on his opponent and took the fight to his comfort zone. Visibly uncomfortable in his position, the Russian tried to get up, but was stopped by the Niteroi native. On the ground, Gilbert threw some punches and elbows and continued trying to find a submission. The public began to react negatively to the athletes' inactivity in combat. The Brazilian then started throwing blows that hit his opponent, but there was no more time.

The fight returned hectic in the second stage. The athletes threw dangerous blows in the center of the octagon. Gilbert attempted a takedown again, but the Russian defended well. Alexey was more aggressive in the assault. The athlete threw a combination of punches, which touched the Brazilian's face, who tried to protect himself and responded with the counterattack. Less efficient in his striking, the Niteroi native defended a shot from his opponent and managed a nice takedown on the Russian. Once again the fighter projected himself again, looking for a submission on his opponent. Gilbert risked a guillotine choke, but Alexey managed to defend himself. The crowd, at this moment, applauded the fighters.

In the final round, the athletes continued to deliver good blows in the center of the octagon. Durinho, right from the start, looked for his opponent's legs, but was frustrated by the Russian. Alexey started to throw more blows and corner the Brazilian. After a kick from Kunchenko, Gilbert went to the ground and waited for his opponent to accept the grappling fight. The Russian didn't take any risks and the Brazilian got up. Standing up, the Niteroi native tried a takedown again, this time successfully. Alexey managed to get up, but the Brazilian remained glued to his opponent, preventing him from throwing any more blows. In the final seconds, the Russian tried to frame the Brazilian, but Gilbert moved away from Alexey to avoid contact until the fight was over.

In a warm fight, Alex Leko defeats Kazula and wins first in the UFC

The Brazilian Alex Leko achieved his first victory in Ultimate. In a fight against Rodrigo Kazula, the athlete managed to overcome the defeat suffered in his debut and strategically beat the Mexican who was unable to prevail against the Santa Catarina native's ground game.

PUBLICITY:

Leko needed the victory to gain more confidence in the lightweight category (up to 70,3kg), which is currently one of the most competitive in the organization. In the fight against Kazula, the Brazilian followed the plan drawn up by his team and managed to dominate his opponent for three rounds.

The fight started with the Mexican going all out on Leko. The Brazilian, however, was attentive and took advantage of his opponent's imbalance, immediately looking for his opponent's back. Little by little, Alex tried to seek the submission, but Rodrigo, at the end of the round, managed to free himself and stay on top. Kazula managed to land some good blows and even got up, waiting for Leko to get up so they could exchange blows on the feet again. The assault, however, came to an end.

In the second stage, the athletes studied each other until Alex took advantage of Kazula's poorly calculated attack on the legs. As in the first round, the Brazilian had an advantage on the ground. Rodrigo tried to prevent Alex from continuing with his submission attempts, but Leko insisted on the attacks. The Mexican tried to get up, but the Brazilian continued to hold his opponent on the ground and started hitting Kazula's head with punches. The public, in the end, began to demonstrate negatively against the fighters' lack of action, who remained fighting on the ground until the horn sounded.

In the last round, Leko started to take more risks in the stand-up fight. With some good punches and kicks, the fighter didn't take long to make a good combination of jab and straight shots until he was able, once again, to take Kazula to the ground. Just like in previous rounds, Alex insistently tried to find a submission and Rodrigo tried to defend himself. At the end of the fight, the Mexican managed to get up twice, but, still attached to his opponent's back, Alex knocked his opponent down again. The fight then ended.

The Brazilian Polyana viana confirmed that he is not going through a good phase in his career. After accepting the last minute fight to face Veronica macedo, the fighter again failed to perform well and ended up finishing in less than two seconds of combat. According to 'MMA Fighting', the Brazilian suffered the fastest submission in flyweight history (up to 56,7kg).

There wasn't much time for Viana to show off her skills. Right at the beginning of the fight, the Brazilian took the initiative in the fight by applying a low kick and, shortly afterwards, attempted a takedown on her opponent. After trying to find a submission, the athlete got distracted and had her arm caught by her opponent, who took advantage of the opportunity and forced the Brazilian to tap out.

In a Brazilian duel, Bontorine and Raulian put on a show in Uruguay

Although the Brazilian duel between Rogerio Bontorin e Raulian paiva didn't make it past the first round, the fighters gave the public a performance worthy of applause. After just over two minutes and many blows thrown, Bontorin was declared the winner by technical knockout after Raulian was unable to continue the fight due to a deep cut on the eyebrow resulting from a knee inflicted by his compatriot.

The fight began with the two athletes studying each other in the center of the Octagon. Bontorin took the initiative, throwing a low kick at Raulian's legs, who didn't strike. Rogério managed a good sequence of punches to Paiva's face, but the Amapá native showed that he has a tough chin. The fight was interrupted after two minutes due to Bontorin's face bleeding as a result of a cross that grazed his opponent's face. After the doctor's evaluation, combat resumed. On the way back, the athletes started to engage in frank exchanges and got the crowd excited. Once again the duel was interrupted after a deep cut was noticed on Raulian's eyebrow, the result of a knee to the face. After a new evaluation, the doctor did not authorize his compatriot to continue the fight, declaring Rogério's victory.

The Brazilian Marina Rodriguez managed to overcome a great challenge at UFC Montevideo. In the fifth fight of the night, the gaucho asserted her advantage in size and managed to dominate the experienced Tecia torres over three rounds. The victory ensured Rodriguez's unbeaten record, which added his 12th career victory.

The athletes started the fight saving on the blows. With greater reach, Marina tried to throw some low kicks at her opponent. Tecia found it difficult to get close to Rodriguez due to the Brazilian's larger wingspan. Marina risked a sequence of punches and kicks that stopped when Torres evaded her. Even though she didn't find the distance, Tecia showed danger with her punches when she managed to get into the Brazilian's range of action. The athletes sometimes engaged in frank exchanges, which excited the audience present. Near the end of the round, Torres tried to take Marina to the ground, but the Brazilian defended efficiently and the round was ended.

In the second stage, Tecia continued to try to overcome her size disadvantage. The Brazilian continued to throw kicks at her opponent's waistline and sought to frame the North American against the cage. Torres managed to free himself, but he continued to be a hostage to Marina's blows. Again, Torres tried to take Rodriguez to the ground again, but the Brazilian defended herself well. After another failure in Torres' attack, the round was ended.

The beginning of the last round started less busy. With both fighters studying the movement, Marina took the initiative again with a low kick to her opponent. The Brazilian showed a lot of concentration in the fight and continued connecting more blows on her opponent. With two more left in the fight, Torres attempted a takedown again, but was almost surprised by a guillotine choke. The North American, however, managed to free herself from the position. In the final seconds the athletes exchanged frank blows, but there was no more time.
