“You need a challenge that scares you a little”, published the fighter, making a reference to a quote by Jordan Metzl, a sports medicine doctor. In the publication itself, Claressa explains that a few years ago, she came across the same phrase, which motivated her to try herself in boxing. “This quote is making me think about taking a chance on the UFC. I had this strange feeling about turning pro a few years ago and I stumbled upon this phrase and decided to do it (boxing). And then yesterday, that same quote reappeared! With all this talk about me and Nunes, I had the same feeling”, published the athlete.

The champion also informed that there have already been talks for the North American to fight Nunes in a boxing match. With the new information, the athlete confirms that there is a possibility that the fight will also be held in MMA. Shields, however, shows that she has her feet on the ground about the possibility of defeating Nunes in a mixed martial arts showdown. In an interview with 'Sirius XM', Claressa states that she needs preparation so that she doesn't get beaten easily by the Brazilian. For the North American, today, it would not be possible to defeat the 'Lioness'.

“In MMA, now, she would beat me. We're talking if we fought tomorrow. Right now, she would beat me. And right now, if we fought in a boxing match tomorrow, I would knock her out. This is very clear. But, if Dana White wants her to come try her luck with me, I'm more than eager to face her”, concluded the fighter.

Currently, Shields has nine fights and nine wins in professional boxing. As an amateur, the athlete had 78 matches, being defeated in just one. Recently, the 24-year-old champion helped Chris Cyborg in her training to improve the Brazilian's boxing.
