The new Brazilian sweetie, Johnny Walker continue to exude confidence in his statements about his success in a duel against the light heavyweight champion (up to 93 kg.), Jon Jones. This time, the athlete born in Belford Roxo (RJ), responded to a provocation from 'Bones' in which the MMA legend states that the Belford-Roxense player still doesn't have the qualifications for a title fight. On the subject, Walker stated that Jones is afraid of being defeated by an unknown athlete. The statement was made in a recent interview with 'MMA Fighting'.

"I think he (Jon Jones) is afraid of being defeated by an unknown guy,” said Johnny.

The Brazilian's statement came in response to a post by 'Bones' made on his official Twitter account. At the time, the champion justified why Walker should not yet be mentioned as a possible challenger for a duel.

“Do you want me to fight someone unknown to the general public and who hasn’t even faced a top 10 fighter? Think about it. Besides, if I beat him in December, what would everyone have to hope for in the future?” Jones posted.

In response, Walker even agreed with the champion on some aspects. However, for Johnny, it is not necessary to face a top 5 contender to get a chance at the belt, as his three appearances in Ultimate, according to the athlete, are enough to put him in a prominent position within the division.

“Well, he's right. I haven't done much within the UFC yet. But there aren't many guys who would give me a big chance. I don't need to hit the top 5. People talk a lot of nonsense. They say I don't have jiu-jitsu, that I don't have wrestling. They say I have to face a wrestler. The last time I faced a wrestler, the match lasted five seconds. I'm ready for him (Jon). And I know I would be a great challenge,” said Walker.

For some of the specialized press, Johnny still has to perform a few more times before he has the chance to fight for the light heavyweight belt. The athlete, however, is confident that he can share the octagon against any level fighter and, to prove his desire for higher steps, the Brazilian also said that, if Jones does not accept the challenge, he would be ready to face Francis Ngannou, recent executioner of junior gypsy, in the heavy category (up to 120,2kg.).

“It’s like impressing the audience by defeating Francis Ngannou. He's a machine. People are afraid to face him, but I'm not afraid to fight him. We have the same knockout power. I auditioned at the UFC Performance Institute. I was recovering from surgery and we reached almost the same number (on a machine that measures the power of blows). I can definitely beat him.

Jonny Walker gained notoriety in the world of MMA after participating in just three fights since signing a professional contract with the company, and beating his opponents before the end of the first round.

At 27 years old, the fighter has not performed since March of this year, when, while celebrating his victory over Misha Cirkunov, ended up injuring his shoulder, which forced him to undergo surgery to correct the problem.
