Rafael dos Anjos believes in a submission victory over Kevin Lee this Saturday

The Brazilian Rafael dos Anjos is confident of a victory over Kevin Lee next Saturday (18), at UFC Rochester. In an interview with 'Combate', the fighter said that he hopes to defeat his opponent by submission in the main fight of the event. Coming from two consecutive defeats, the athlete needs the triumph to remain firm in his dream of the welterweight belt (under 77kg).

“I need to finish. I haven't finished in years. I think a finish would be great in the second or third round”, commented dos Anjos.

Even though he wins, Rafael is aware that a positive result against his opponent will not change his situation in the division's ranking. Currently, the Brazilian is in third place in the category, behind only Tyron woodley e Colby covington

“(A victory) will not give me any projection in the category. I'm third in the ranking. I tried to forget about the rankings a little, but a victory is always good to give you some motivation. My last victory was in December 2017, that is, almost a year and a half ago. I want to win”, said the athlete.

The former lightweight champion (up to 70,3 kg.) is not going through a good phase in his career. In his last two commitments, Rafael was defeated. In one of them, the Brazilian faced Colby covington for the interim welterweight belt at UFC 225, and was defeated by unanimous decision from the judges.

The 34-year-old fighter moved from lightweight to welterweight in 2017. In her debut in the new division, she faced the Belgian Tarec saffiedine and emerged victorious. Since then, the Brazilian has played for the new category four times, winning two and losing the rest.

In his career, dos Anjos has a respectable record. In 39 fights, the athlete triumphed on 28 occasions and suffered 11 setbacks.

Kevin Lee, in turn, is younger, but also has a lot of experience in the sport. At 26 years old, the American has already fought 21 times, recording 17 wins and four losses. This will be the athlete’s welterweight debut.
