Johnny Walker surprises not only inside the octagon, but also outside it. In a recent interview in the mixed zone of UFC 237, last Saturday (11), in Rio de Janeiro, the Brazilian did not shy away and revealed that he was just short of competing for the title in his category. Walker comes from three incredible victories within Ultimate.

“Man, I think one or two wins is enough,” Johnny confessed. “All I need is to recover my shoulder and get back to training. But I'm ready. I have the technique and experience for this”, said the Brazilian.

About a possible meeting against the MMA legend, Jon Jones, Walker was clear about expectations regarding a possible duel against the North American in the future.

“I'm ready to win Jon Jones now. Anyone they put up to face me, I'll take my place. But I prefer to face someone from the top 5. But, if it's from the top 10, that's fine. I'm number 12 now. I accept anyone who is in front of me. I want to beat Jones”, said the light heavyweight (up to 93kg).

Johnny, however, recognizes that there is a waiting list and criteria adopted within the organization for the matchmaking of fights. It is up to the athlete, then, to continue winning and wait for his opportunity.

“I have to go slowly. I don't want to take anyone's place. Many fighters deserve this more than me. I still have a lot to show and I will conquer my space”, concluded the athlete.

Walker is recovering from a shoulder injury sustained after his extravagant celebration following his latest victory. After defeating Misha Circunov in just 36 seconds, the Brazilian threw himself to the ground without the support of his hands and ended up hurting himself.

The 27-year-old athlete only had three fights in Ultimate, winning all of them by knockout. Johnny gained fame after it was recorded that, adding up the time he spent inside the UFC Octagon, the total did not reach three minutes.
