After the defeat to Jared Cannonier in the co-main fight of the event, which took place in Rio de Janeiro, Anderson Silva received a six-month suspension following his defeat. On that occasion, 'Spider' lost the fight after receiving a hard kick to his right knee, causing the Brazilian legend to immediately fall to the ground and forcing the referee to stop the fight. Anderson's situation, however, can be reduced if the athlete presents an imaging test that does not identify a serious injury and allows the fighter to return to training in a shorter period of time.
Just like 'Spider', three more athletes also received a six-month suspension: the former strawweight champion (up to 52,1kg), Rose namajunas, the executioner of Thiago 'Pitbull', Laureanno Staropoli and the woman from Paraíba, Bethe Correia. All fighters may have their absence reduced, in the same condition as Anderson.
The new champion, Jessica Andrade, the 'Bate-Estaca', will be away from combat for 45 days and will be free to return to training after a month of rest. The manauara José Aldo received a light suspension. If he decides to continue fighting, the athlete will need to stay away from fights for two weeks, and can return to training in one. Former featherweight champion (up to 65,7kg) was defeated after a dull fight last Saturday.
