The scene is shocking and made fans remember a tragic moment from 2013: Anderson Silva stretched out in the octagon screaming in pain and with his hand on his right leg. However, despite the scare, on Saturday night (11), the Spider did not suffer a new fracture as had occurred in the fight against Chris Weidman in 2013.

According to the doctor from the Brazilian MMA Athletic Commission (CABMMA), Márcio Tannure, he stated that Anderson did not break any bones when he received the kick to the knee from Jared Cannonier. However, Spider will be examined during the week to find out the severity of the injury.

“Anderson felt pain in his right knee after direct trauma, a kick. Now the pain is a little better, but it is still very inflamed, with edema. We’re going to wait a little bit and do additional tests during the week to find out if there was a more serious injury and be able to give a prognosis,” he said.

Although the fracture has been ruled out, the Spider team suspects that the Brazilian fighter has torn the ligaments in his knee.

Anderson Silva, 44 years old, still has two more fights left on his UFC contract. However, depending on the severity of the injury, the setback for Cannonier could be that this was his last appearance in the octagon.
