Experienced, yes. Old man, never. Anderson Silva surprised again and confirmed his desire to face Conor McGregor in one of his last career fights. The information was disclosed in an interview with the website 'TMZ'. The 'Spider' will take action next Saturday in a duel against Jared Cannonier, UFC 237, in Rio de Janeiro.

“It (the fight) is very interesting for the sport and for the fans. Conor and I accepted the challenge and are waiting for the opportunity. Come on, boss (Dana White). Give this show to the UFC fans”, asked Anderson, who tried to emphasize the greatness of the duel. “Two great men, two great names. It will be good money for you, Dana and a good challenge for Conor and me”, said the 'Spider'.

At 44 years old, Anderson still isn't thinking about retirement. Although he has a negative record in his last seven fights, the legendary fighter performed well in his last commitments.

“I still have some fights left. I'm training hard for them. I will finish my contract before I retire. There are three or four fights out there”, concluded Silva.

The last time he entered the Octagon, Silva faced the most recent holder of the (interim) middleweight (under 83,9 kg) title, Israel adesanya, who is a self-confessed fan of the Brazilian. The fight was decided by the judges' decision, who declared Israel the winner by unanimous decision. Even defeated, Anderson silenced several critics who imagined that 'Spider' would be easy prey for the young champion.

The fight against McGregor, however, will depend on Ultimate's goodwill towards the Brazilian. 'Spider' has already declared himself an admirer of the Irishman's style and his opponent, in a moment of rare humility, showed consideration and respect for the São Paulo native.

Anderson Silva, former absolute champion of the category, is currently in 14th position in the middleweight rankings. His opponent this Saturday, the North American Jared Cannonier, ranked 10th. A victory could guarantee the Brazilian back in the top 10 of the division.
