UFC president Dana White announced this Thursday that Matt Serra is out of the UFC-79 card due to a herniated disc injury he suffered earlier this week in training.
The current UFC champion, in the welterweight category (up to 77kg), would defend his title against the former champion Matt hugs on the 28rd of December.
“This news is devastating because we were so excited to see them fight against each other, White said.
“Unfortunately injuries happen and I look forward to seeing Serra recover quickly, and to get him back to the Octagon.”
