Cormier and Miocic advance in UFC pound-for-pound rankings

Champions retained their belts with dominant performances at UFC 220 last Saturday (20)

The performances of Daniel Cormier e Stipe Miocic at UFC 220 last Saturday (20) impressed journalists from around the world who vote on the UFC rankings. So much so that, in the new edition of the list, the two champions gained positions in the weight-for-weight ranking, which evaluates all Ultimate fighters regardless of weight category.

Previously ranked fifth on the list, light heavyweight champion Cormier gained a position with his knockout over Volkan oezdemir and is now the fourth best fighter in the UFC pound for pound, behind only Demetrious Johnson, Conor McGregor e Georges St Pierre. Owner of the heavyweight belt, Miocic dominated Francis Ngannou, beating the Cameroonian by unanimous decision in a performance that saw the Croatian-American rise from seventh to sixth place, surpassing TJ Dillashaw, bantamweight champion.

Another significant change in the rankings occurred precisely in the Dillashaw category. Opening the main portion of UFC 220, Rob font surprised the Brazilian Thomas almeida and knocked him out in the second round. With the victory, the North American gained three positions and is in 11th place, pushing Thominhas from 10th to 12th place. In flyweight, Dustin Ortiz, who won Alexandre pantoja, also advanced one position and is now ninth in the division. Pantoja lost two places and is now in 13th.
