The Brazilian Junior Gypsy will have to change his plans for UFC 131. Initially scheduled to face the former heavyweight champion of the event Brock Lesnar, the tough guy will now measure forces with Shane carwin in a fight that will define the next challenger for the category belt.
Lesnar was forced to cancel his participation in the match due to diverticulitis, an inflammation that manifests itself in the large intestine. If surgical intervention is necessary for the former champion, Lesnar's career could be cut short. However, the North American says he is calm about the case and that he will soon be able to fight in the UFC again in search of the organization's belt.
“I just need to find the right solution to fix this problem,” he said.
UFC 131 will take place on June 11th in Canada and will feature a total of 12 fights on its card. It still remains to be decided who will be Jon Olav Einemo's opponent, who was originally going to face Carwin in his debut in the Ultimate. Check out the UFC 131 card below:
