Glover Teixeira , it seems, didn't see the point in Paulo Borrachinha 's complaints about Alex Poatan . Recently, the Minas Gerais native questioned the Pataxó fighter's position in the heavyweight rankings (up to 120,2 kg), even with a negative record in the division. The criticism made by the Brazilian was countered by the former UFC champion and current Poatan coach.
During an appearance on the Overdogs Podcast, Glover Teixeira argued that, following the logic presented by Borrachinha, the Brazilian himself should also have started his career in the light heavyweight division (up to 93kg) outside the top positions in the rankings.
“I know he marked Poatan there… Borrachinha was complaining and he’s already talking about fighting for the belt. So (according to the complaint) he should have started down there too if that was the case,” said Glover Teixeira.

The former champion also explained that Poatan already held a prominent position in the UFC before moving up a weight class. Therefore, upon relinquishing his title as light heavyweight champion, the Brazilian was automatically placed among the top contenders in the heavyweight division.
"When you're number one, like Poatan, automatically coming out as champion means you're already number two in the heavyweight division. What Borrachinha wants to say is that Poatan entered and is already in the rankings, of course he's going to be in the rankings," concluded the former champion.
