Carlos Prates has his sights set on the top of the welterweight division (up to 77,1 kg) and has already set his next goal in the UFC. Riding the wave of his good run in the organization, the Brazilian revealed that he has renewed his contract with the company and made it clear that he intends to be the next challenger for the belt.
In an interview with Ariel Helwani, this Tuesday (18), the Fighting Nerds athlete spoke about the next steps in his career and reinforced his confidence that he will be chosen to compete for the title. Prates is on a run of three knockouts and is looking to be the first Brazilian to win the title in his category.

"I'm next in line for the belt, new contract. Eight fights," said Carlos Prates.
Asked about Michael Morales , another rising star in the division with title potential, the Brazilian believes the Ecuadorian still needs to face one more opponent before even thinking about a title fight.
"I think he (Morales) will fight Belal Muhammad or some other fighter I don't know, but he needs to fight one more time," said 'The Nightmare'.

At 33 years old, Prates is one of the leading names in the UFC welterweight division. A native of Taubaté (SP), the Brazilian has a professional record of 24 wins and seven losses, with an impressive 19 knockout victories and three by submission, numbers that reinforce his reputation as a striker.
