One of the most discussed topics in MMA concerns the greatest/best fighter in history, and even Dana White has an opinion on the matter. This Saturday (15), in Philadelphia (USA), Islam Makhachev , welterweight champion (up to 77,1 kg), could enter the fight for the title, if he confirms his favoritism against Ian Garry in the main event of UFC 330. It is true that the company leader does not consider the Russian the GOAT and is convinced about the number one professional of all time.

In an interview with 'TMZ Sports', Dana White pointed out that Khabib Nurmagomedov could have been the greatest MMA fighter in history. Indeed, for many fans and professionals of the sport, 'The Eagle' was so dominant in action that he made his mark. Not surprisingly, the Russian finished his career undefeated, with 29 wins.
Precisely because he is dominant in the octagon, the official stressed that Khabib wasted the chance to be the GOAT of the sport. It is worth noting that the MMA legend retired in 2020, at his peak, after Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, his father and coach, passed away due to COVID-19.
“Obviously, Makhachev achieved more than Khabib because he fought for longer. Who knows what Khabib could have achieved if he had stayed in the sport? And, realistically, if Khabib had done what practically everyone knows he was capable of doing, he would definitely be the best of all time,” he said.

Khabib Nurmagomedov , 37, retired from MMA as a legend in 2020. The Russian dominated the UFC lightweight division (up to 70,3 kg), winning all 29 fights he competed in during his career and becoming a member of the organization's Hall of Fame. His main victories were over Conor McGregor , Dustin Poirier , Edson Barboza , Justin Gaethje , and Rafael dos Anjos.
