MMA legend Islam Makhachev strongly disagreed with the statement made by Ian Machado Garry . In the main event of UFC 330 , scheduled to take place this Saturday (15), in Philadelphia (USA), the Russian, welterweight champion (up to 77,1 kg), faces his rival and did not like seeing him belittling his career and, incidentally, Charles do Bronx.

It all started when the Irishman pointed out that his last five opponents were tougher than Makhachev's. In this period, Garry faced, in sequence, Geoff Neal , Michael Page , Shavkat Rakhmonov , Carlos Prates , and Belal Muhammad , while the Russian dealt with Charles Oliveira , Alexander Volkanovski (twice), Dustin Poirier , Renato Moicano , and Jack Della Maddalena.

After his rival's winning streak was reduced, the champion defended the Brazilian and made a point of reminding him of his defeat to the Kazakh in 2024. It's worth noting that, unlike Garry, Makhachev has defeated all the opponents mentioned above.

“I was upset that he didn’t respect his teammate, Charles. I don’t know. When he faces good opponents, he simply loses. When he faced Shavkat, he talked too much. Just look at the fight. That guy beat him in four rounds. That’s it,” said the champion at the UFC 330 media day.

Islam Makhachev , 34, is a UFC double champion and an MMA legend. With four successful title defenses, the Russian holds the record in the lightweight division (up to 70,3 kg). He began his career in the sport in 2010 and debuted in the UFC's biggest organization in 2015.

In this discipline, Khabib Nurmagomedov 's friend built a record of 28 wins and one loss. The welterweight champion's main victories were over Alexander Volkanovski (twice), Arman Tsarukyan , Charles Oliveira , Dustin Poirier , Jack Della Maddalena , and Renato Moicano.
