Caio Borralho made a promise and kept his word. At UFC 326, an event held last Saturday (7), in Las Vegas (USA), the Brazilian dominated Reinier de Ridder, winning by unanimous decision. Recovered from his first defeat in the octagon, the athlete, who is one of the leaders of the 'Fighting Nerds' academy, projects a great season for its main members.
If Carlos Prates, Jean Silva, and Mauricio Ruffy returned to winning ways after their first UFC losses, Borralho guaranteed he would do the same and he didn't disappoint. As expected, with the popular team's complete comeback, the athlete showed his excitement. So much so that, in the post-UFC 326 press conference, 'The Natural' stated that it's only a matter of time before the quartet not only competes for the title in their respective weight classes, but also becomes champion.
“I just saw the news that Ruffy is going to fight at the White House. That’s crazy. If that’s not taking it all, I don’t know what is. The recovery season is complete and now it’s title season. We’re going to hunt that belt with all our might and we’re going to get it. Because, in the gym, we’re dedicating ourselves a lot, putting our souls and lives into it,” said the UFC top fighter.
“Not just the athletes, but all the coaches. The way these guys treat us, the way they dedicate themselves to us, is unparalleled. I've never seen anything like it in my life. If I'm here today, it's because of them, and I hope to make them proud,” he concluded.
Fighting Nerds on the rise
Fully recovered in the UFC, the Fighting Nerds quartet is ready for bigger things. Dreaming of championship status, Caio Borralho and Carlos Prates are ranked fifth in the middleweight (up to 83,9 kg) and welterweight (up to 77,1 kg) divisions, respectively. In the featherweight division (up to 65,8 kg), Jean Silva is sixth in the rankings. Meanwhile, Mauricio Ruffy is number nine in the lightweight division (up to 70,3 kg).
