Islam Makhachev is open to the possibility of facing Ilia Topuria at UFC Casa Branca . After dominating Jack Della Maddalena and winning the welterweight title (up to 77kg), the Dagestani fighter has seen a line of potential challengers forming in the division. However, if it's of interest to the UFC, the champion admits he might leave his competitors waiting to have a super fight against the Spaniard.
In an interview with the Serbian newspaper 'Telegraf', Makhachev acknowledged that there are names that deserve a title shot, but stated that he is awaiting the UFC's decision regarding his next fight. The champion emphasized that the organization needs to indicate a new target and reiterated that he is prepared for any scenario. Regarding a possible duel with Topuria, he stated that he likes the idea and stressed that, if it were up to him, the fight could happen, especially since it is a desire of many MMA fans.

“Right now, in my division, there are many challengers who deserve to fight for the title. The UFC needs to give me a new target, that’s it. I’m just waiting… I like this idea (of facing Topuria). If the UFC wants it, and I know many MMA fans want this fight, I’m ready,” said Islam Makhachev.
When discussing his return to the octagon, Makhachev cited an event at the White House as a concrete possibility. The fighter explained that he will be away from training during the month of Ramadan, but assured that, after the religious period, he will gradually begin his training camp.
“This ( UFC Casa Branca ) is one of the places where I might fight next time. We have the month of Ramadan, during which I won't be training for a month. After that, I'll slowly start my camp and I'll be ready. Whether it's at Casa Branca or another date, I'll be prepared,” concluded the Dagestani fighter.

To date, the UFC has not yet officially announced any fights with signed contracts for the highly anticipated event at the White House. In a statement made last Tuesday (10), Dana White said that the full card should start to be announced in the coming weeks, as negotiations are finalized.
The event is planned for June 14, 2026, in the South Lawn of the White House in Washington, D.C., according to recent statements by Donald Trump and Dana White himself. Initially, the organization was working with the possibility of holding the show on July 4, but the date was moved forward due to logistical issues related to the celebrations of the 250th anniversary of the independence of the United States.
Excited by the magnitude of the proposal, Dana White described the show as a kind of 'Sphere on steroids', suggesting it will be one of the biggest events in UFC history, both in terms of structure and impact.
Among the names strongly rumored to be part of the event are Alex Poatan , Jon Jones , Conor McGregor , Justin Gaethje , Ilia Topuria , Islam Makhachev , Amanda Nunes , and Kayla Harrison , although, so far, no fight has been officially announced.
