In response on X, formerly Twitter, Jake Paul He stated that his remarks had no relation to the artist's Puerto Rican origins and highlighted his affection for the territory. According to him, the criticism was directed at Bad Bunny's political positions and not at national identity. The American also reinforced that he opposes public figures who, in his view, criticize the United States while benefiting from the country.

"To clarify: I wasn't calling anyone a 'fake citizen' for being from Puerto Rico. I live in Puerto Rico and I love Puerto Rico. I have used my platform to support the country countless times and I always will."

But if you're publicly criticizing ICE, which is doing its job, and openly demonstrating hatred for the United States, I will speak out. Period. That's the same reason I criticized Hunter Hess.

If you benefit from a country and the platform it provides, but at the same time publicly disrespect it, that's what I mean by being a fake citizen. And I agree that love is more powerful than hate. Love America,” said 'The Problem Child'.
