Too easy! Khabib's cousin mocks Deiveson after victory at UFC 324: 'The training sessions were harder'

Considered a strong favorite to win at UFC 324, Umar Nurmagomedov , in fact, had no trouble at all in the octagon. At the event held last Saturday (24), in Las Vegas (USA), Khabib Nurmagomedov 's cousin dominated Deiveson Figueiredo , winning by unanimous decision and moved closer to competing for the bantamweight belt (up to 61,2 kg) for the second time. And the ease of the duel surprised even the Russian.

In the post-UFC 324 press conference, Umar candidly stressed that the preparation to face the Brazilian, former flyweight champion (up to 57 kg), and his training partners demanded more from him than the fight itself. “I expected it to be harder, but it was easier than training. I try to give my best, fight like an assassin, but when your opponent isn't fighting, it's a little difficult to have a competitive fight. My plan was to try everything to get the victory. Thank God, I succeeded, and God made things easier for me. A win is a win. Of course, it could have been a better fight, but he needed to do something. Not just in the last ten seconds of every round,” said the athlete.

“He’s a former champion, a tough guy, who isn’t easy. I don’t know why he didn’t try harder, but he’s a tough guy. When I took him down, he got up and I felt he had strength, but I don’t know. Maybe he was afraid to try, he wasn’t in shape and that’s why he didn’t make weight. I don’t know, but it’s none of my business. I did what I had to do and I think I did a good job,” he concluded.

Umar Nurmagomedov , 30, stands out not only for being Khabib Nurmagomedov 's cousin . The Russian is one of the best fighters in the bantamweight division and has already competed for the title. He began his MMA career in 2016 and debuted in the UFC in 2021. Currently, the Dagestan representative is ranked second in the division.

In sports, Umar built a record of 20 wins and only one loss. His main victories were over Cory Sandhagen , Deiveson Figueiredo , Mario Bautista , and Raoni Barcelos.
