Carlos Prates received a deadline from Dana White. The Brazilian revealed in an interview that the UFC president promised him a title shot. Prates recounted how this conversation took place behind the scenes.
In a video posted on the 'Red Corner MMA' profile of X, formerly Twitter, Carlos Prates made it clear that his main goal is to become UFC champion. The Brazilian stated that Dana White already considers him among the favorites to compete for the welterweight (up to 77kg) belt of the company.
“Yes, yes. I think the last time, when I was about to fight Leon (Edwards), I asked him (Dana White) that. He said that if I finished Leon in the first round, the belt would come to me. He said that… They asked me to go to the weigh-in, backstage, still with my glasses on. And I just asked him (Dana). He said that if I finished Leon in the first round, the title shot would come to me. I said, 'Seriously?' And he said yes. He said yes, for sure,” Carlos Prates revealed in an interview.

The date and time of Carlos Prates ' next UFC fight are still unknown . The Brazilian last fought against Leon Edwards at UFC 322 in New York (USA) in November. Prates has been with the company since February 2024, when he debuted with a knockout (punches) victory over Trevin Giles in the second round of UFC Fight Night 236.
Carlos Prates has had seven fights in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, recording six wins and one loss. As a professional in MMA, the Brazilian has accumulated 23 wins and seven losses. Currently, Carlos is ranked sixth in the UFC welterweight division.
