Suffering from public backlash since the anticlimactic outcome of his fight with Ciryl Gane , Tom Aspinall has yet to return to the gym, much less plan a return to his commitments as the world heavyweight champion (up to 120,2 kg). Amidst this situation, the Englishman continues with the goal of making up for lost time with the months of negotiations for a duel with Jon Jones.

When asked about possible timelines for his return, the Briton was honest in admitting that it depends on the results of tests and the opinion of doctors. There is even the possibility of surgery for the champion's full recovery.
“Look, it doesn’t depend on me. It depends on the doctors at this moment. I’m not allowed to do anything, so I’m just following their recommendations. The next step for me now is this conversation about eye surgery. We need to see how things go in the next few weeks. I’m not training at the gym right now, I’m not doing anything related to MMA,” the fighter stated in a video posted on his YouTube channel.

Although there is no official date set for his return to the octagon, the Englishman has promised a new version of his personality for when the time comes to come back.
“When I come back, there won’t be that nice guy anymore. The ‘good guy’ image, when it comes to MMA, is out of the question. I’m going to become a complete villain,” the champion stated.
