Carlos Prates has a plan, to say the least, unusual to convince Islam Makhachev to face him for the welterweight belt (up to 77 kg). The Smoker knocked out Leon Edwards at UFC 322, held last Saturday (15), and placed himself among the possible challengers of the Russian, who won the title on the same night. To try to secure the spot and share the octagon with the Dagestani, the Brazilian admitted that he considers himself the least difficult option among the candidates.
In an interview with the 'Laerte Viana MMA' channel, Carlos Prates ironically pointed out that Kamaru Usman and Michael Morales are stronger, while he is the lightest and has suffered the most takedowns among them, a factor that, according to Fumante, would make the fight 'easier' for the champion.

“I’m the easiest fight, because Kamaru Usman is strong, he has wrestling, Morales is strong. I’m the lightest guy, the one who’s taken down the most among them. Come fight me, man, it’ll be easy… come fight me, it’ll be cool,” said Carlos Prates.
Despite Carlos Prates ' desire to share the octagon with Islam Makhachev , the champion already has his favorite opponent: Kamaru Usman , one of the biggest names in the history of the division, who is coming off a victory over Joaquin Buckley at UFC Atlanta.
