The wait is over. Jon Jones finally responded to the challenge launched by Alex Poatan at the beginning of October and did so in style. During the UFC 321 broadcast, this Saturday (25), the former light heavyweight (up to 93kg) and heavyweight (up to 120,2kg) champion posted a message on social media accepting the fight with the Brazilian.
On his official X account, Jones preached respect for Poatan, but accepted that the fight will take place at the event that the UFC plans to hold at the White House in July 2026.

"Alex, I would love to bring the highest level of skill to the White House. I appreciate the respect you've shown, let's dance," Bones wrote.
Since Jon Jones ' retirement was rumored, there had been speculation about whether the American would return to competition. Poatan's challenge came after the Brazilian knocked out Magomed Ankalaev and regained the 93kg belt. The timing of the response also drew attention: it occurred shortly after the fight between Tom Aspinall and Ciryl Gane ended in a no contest due to an accidental strike.
Alex, I'd be down to bring the highest skill level to the White House. I appreciate the respect you showed, let's dance.

With Jon Jones vs. Poatan, UFC at the White House begins to heat up
UFC at the White House is currently scheduled to take place on June 14, 2026. Originally, the date considered was July 4, 2026, to coincide with the 250th anniversary of the United States' independence.
However, the date was changed and President Donald Trump confirmed in October 2025 that the event will take place on June 14, which is also his 80th birthday.
Johnny Walker opens up about his heavyweight debut at UFC 332.
