Scheduled to defend his welterweight belt (up to 77,1 kg) for the first time at UFC 322, Jack Della Maddalena did not hesitate to call on a great training partner to help prepare for the duel against Islam makhachev. Aware of his great experience and talent, the Australian now has Alexander Volkanovsky, current featherweight champion (up to 65,7 kg) and former victim of the Russian.
Remembered for posing significant problems to Makhachev in their first Octagon encounter, Volkanovski has already prepared to face the athlete twice. Despite failing to win on both occasions, the veteran is also known for his discipline and analysis of his opponents.

The news was revealed through photos posted on Instagram, where Maddalena reveals Volkanovski's participation in training for his title defense against Makhachev. Between support and criticism, the champion received immediate responses from internet users.
“Australia doesn’t have wrestling, you can’t copy Islam’s style,” said one follower.
"Seriously? You're training with a guy who lost to Islam twice? What are your real goals? To win or to lose?"
"If Volka gave Makhachev heat, imagine JDM! It'll break him, and the Russians will return to anonymity."

UFC 322 protagonists, Jack Della Maddalena e Islam makhachev face each other on November 15th at Madison Square Garden, New York (USA). Heading to the new division, the Russian will make his debut at welterweight in a duel against the Australian.
