This Saturday (13), Ultimate promotes the third edition of Noche UFC, an event conceived in honor of Mexico's Independence Day. For the first time, the celebration will not be in Las Vegas, but in San Antonio, Texas, at the Frost Bank Center. The choice maintains the tradition of holding the show in a region with a strong presence of the Mexican community.

The main fight of the night pits the Brazilian based in Mexico against each other Diego lopes and also Brazilian Jean Silva, in a featherweight bout (up to 65,7 kg). The card also features Mexican athletes and their descendants, reinforcing the event's proposal to highlight the country's culture and representatives in the UFC.

Mexican War of Independence lasted 11 years

O Noche UFC 2025 takes place on September 13th., but the celebration refers to the September 16, date that marks 215 years the beginning of the Mexican War of Independence. In 1810, Father Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla led the "Cry of Dolores" in the state of Guanajuato, becoming the main instigator of the popular discontent against the Spanish crown.

The movement initiated by Hidalgo spread quickly, gathering thousands of followers. After his execution in 1811, the struggle was led by figures such as José Morelos, Vicente Guerrero, and Guadalupe Victoria. Only in 1821, with the Treaty of Córdoba signed by Augustín de Iturbide, did Mexico gain official recognition as an independent nation.

As in previous years, the Noche UFC card features Mexican representatives and athletes of Latino descent. Among the highlights are... David Martinez, who replaced Raul Rosas Jr. and faces Rob Font, in addition to Rafa García e Luis Gurule, who also carry the Mexican flag in the octagon.

In addition to athletes born in Mexico, Noche UFC has its share of fighters with Mexican ancestry, such as Alexander Hernandez, Tatiana Suarez, and Kelvin Gastelum, as well as names based in Mexico, such as Brazilians Diego Lopes and Alessandro Costa.

San Antonio embraces the spirit of Noche UFC

Although the initial plan was to hold the event in Guadalajara, Mexico, construction delays at the local arena forced the move to San Antonio. The Texas city, however, also offers a suitable setting for the celebration.

According to the United States CensusNear 63,9% of San Antonio's population identifies as Hispanic or Latino. Among them, the overwhelming majority are of Mexican origin: approximately 83,9% of the Hispanic total, which represents more than half of the city's inhabitants.

Thus, even far from Mexican soil, the UFC 2025 Night promises to repeat the success of previous editions and consolidate itself as an annual tradition in the Ultimate calendar.
