Tatsuro Taira took an important step towards the top of the flyweight division (up to 56,7 kg) by winning Hyun Sung Park in the main fight of UFC Vegas 108, last Saturday (2), in Las Vegas. The Japanese took advantage of the post-fight space to position himself as a possible challenger for the belt Alexandre pantoja. Furthermore, he got straight to the point by stating that he has more resources than the champion.
“I can say with 100% certainty that my skills are better than the champion’s. The opponent has changed (from amir albazi for Park) and I won. I'm confident. I'm the best flyweight,” Taira said at the press conference.

At 24, Taira now has 17 wins on his record – seven of them in the UFC – and is considered one of the rising names in the division. He had been preparing to face amir albazi, but accepted the last-minute change of opponent and controlled the fight with ease to finish in the second round.
Meanwhile, Alexandre pantoja still awaits a decision on his next fight. The Brazilian defended his belt for the fourth time in UFC 317, on June 28, submitting Kai Kara-France with a rear-naked choke in the third round. After the triumph, Joshua Van he stepped into the octagon and publicly challenged the champion, who accepted the provocation naturally and even praised his rival.
