Fans who were waiting for a rematch between Max Holloway e Charles of the Bronx for the 'BMF' belt received some bad news. The Hawaiian, who defended his title as 'toughest fighter in the UFC' against Dustin poirier at UFC 318, he is not expected to face the Brazilian, or any other rival, this year.
In a video posted on his YouTube channel, Holloway revealed that he suffered a hand injury and continues to feel pain, while awaiting a medical evaluation to determine his next steps.

"My right hand still hurts... If you're hoping to see me fight again this year, it's probably not going to happen. What's next? I couldn't say. Right now, this stupid injury has set me back, so we don't know what's going to happen," he declared.
After the defeat of Charles of the Bronx to Ilia Topuria in the main fight of UFC 317, many fans and analysts pointed to a rematch against Holloway as the ideal scenario for the Brazilian's return, which was knocked out for the first time in his career. With the BMF belt on the line, the fight could accelerate Charles's new run at the linear title.
History and meaning of the 'BMF' belt in the UFC
The 'BMF' belt was created in 2019 and debuted in the fight between Nate diaz e Jorge masvidal. The acronym stands for 'Baddest MotherF*cker', which refers to an extremely fierce and aggressive fighter. Since then, only Jorge masvidal, Justin gaethje e Max Holloway won the title.
