Former title challenger reveals he was mobbed by fans in more than six countries after waging war at UFC 307

Protagonist of a great battle in UFC 307, Khalil rountree managed to deliver great performance against the scary Alex Poatán. Despite being knocked out in the fourth round, the American was praised by many fans and fighters for having managed to win the first three rounds against the Brazilian, according to the judges' scores.

Besides the scars from the fight, Rountree reaped positives in his life and career. A veteran of the organization, the fighter opened up and admitted that it was only after his performance against the Brazilian that he gained credibility and recognition from fight fans.

"Since the Poatan fight, I've been to over six countries, and in all of them I had fans; everyone knew who I am now. That was shocking to me, especially coming off a loss, and even though I knew I gave my all in that fight, and I think that was what people wanted from me, to have that mindset. I've been in the UFC for a long time, but that fight showed who I am, and I showed the world who I am, against a guy like Alex," Khalil told Joe Rogan.

At 35, Rountree fought for the belt for the first time in 2024. Since then, the fighter has risen from eighth in the rankings to fourth. In his last appearance, the fighter defeated Jamahal hill in the judges' decision, when they starred in the first edition held in Baku.
