Daniel Cormier hasn't held back in his criticism of Jon Jones' public behavior since his retirement announcement. Just two weeks after ending his career, 'Bones' has already made headlines for resuming anti-doping tests, provoking a fight with Tom Aspinall , expressing interest in fighting on the UFC White House card, and returning to training. “ Jon Jones and I disagree on most things. And, man, he’s been great for my YouTube channel these past few months. Him arguing everywhere has been great for my YouTube channel. But please, don’t become what Conor became in the media. Every time a big news story breaks, Conor says, ‘I’m back’ or ‘I’m going to do it.’ Don’t do that,” Daniel Cormier said on the show ‘Good Guy/Bad Guy’.

"Don't try to make this an issue about you, since you voluntarily stepped away. Conor didn't voluntarily step away. Conor got hurt and left. He just didn't come back. Jones voluntarily said, 'Enough is enough.' So now that he's stepped away, don't try to create these stories about yourself when you're a guy who should have stepped away from the game," suggested 'DC'.

Although both are now retired, Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier experienced one of the most intense rivalries in MMA history in the second half of the 2010s. They faced each other twice, both times with the light heavyweight title on the line, and made headlines with heated exchanges of taunts and even a fight at an Ultimate press conference.

In their first duel, in January 2015, Jones prevailed, ending DC's undefeated streak with a unanimous decision victory. In the rematch, in July 2017, Jones once again won, knocking out his opponent with a head kick in the third round. However, the fight was declared a No Contest after Jones tested positive for Turinabol in a doping test.

Two weeks after Dana White announced the end of Jon Jones ' career , the American re-entered the organization's anti-doping testing program .

The gesture, mandatory for active athletes, accompanied publications on social media that he had returned to training.

UFC President Dana White has not yet publicly commented on Jones' return or the White House event. But sources close to the organization describe negotiations as well underway.

The current President of the United States has also participated in events and was greeted by Jon Jones with a 'dance' at UFC 309. For Dana White, having 'Bones' and Conor McGregor (who also volunteered for the event) on a card at the government headquarters would be the biggest event in the organization's history.
