In direct response to Donald Trump's announcement that he would hold a UFC event at the White House on July 4, 2026, as part of the celebrations for the 250th anniversary of US independence, Conor McGregor moved pieces on social media to position himself as the protagonist of the card.
The Irishman shared a digital montage that captures his face-to-face tension with Michael chandler in the presidential gardens, with Trump watching in the background.

“The only place where disputes are truly resolved: the White House,” Conor said, in addition to an AI montage of a staredown with the ‘Iron’.
The image is not a mere provocation. McGregor followed the post with screenshots of private conversations with Dana White, president of the UFC, and suggested that the executive 'loved' the idea. The fight, never carried out despite the rivalry built on the reality show The Ultimate Fighter 31 (2023), remains as unfinished business in the trajectory of both.

Donald Trump wants UFC event at the White House
Trump's proposal, revealed during a rally in Iowa, foresees a show with up to 25 spectators.
The UFC has not released any operational details, but the former president's closeness to Dana White is well-known. Trump has attended recent UFC events, and White skipped a card to watch his military parade in June.
The celebration of the quarter-millennium of American independence, dubbed 'America 250', will include events at national parks and historic battlefields, with MMA as a possible headliner.
McGregor wants to be president of Ireland
For McGregor, the opportunity aligns his sporting and political ambitions. The fighter visited the White House in March 2025, met with Trump on St. Patrick's Day and has expressed plans to run for president of Ireland.
The association with the patriotic event reinforces his image among conservative voters, even though an Irish candidacy would require the definitive postponement of his MMA career.
