In an announcement that could go down in MMA history, Donald Trump shook the fighting world by revealing, during a speech to supporters in Iowa, that the UFC may be about to hold an event on the grounds of the White House , the seat of the United States government.

The idea caught the attention of none other than Conor McGregor , the biggest star ever produced by the UFC. In a post on 'X' (formerly Twitter), the Irishman expressed enthusiasm for the proposal and, even though he hasn't fought in almost four years, showed himself willing to participate.

“Happy 4th of July, USA. Excited about President Trump announcing a UFC event at the White House. It would be an honor! Count me in!” McGregor wrote.

At 36 years old, Conor McGregor hasn't entered the octagon since July 2021, when he was defeated by Dustin Poirier . His last victory was in January 2020, against Donald Cerrone.

A fan of MMA, Donald Trump is a constant presence at UFC events. The president's last appearance was at UFC 316 in June, when Merab Dvalishvili defended his bantamweight title (up to 61,2 kg) against Sean O'Malley and Kayla Harrison became champion, also in the bantamweight division, against Julianna Peña.

Donald Trump's speech announcing the UFC White House event was shared by the UFC on the organization's social media , generating engagement not only from fans, but also from several fighters who spoke out and requested a spot in the event.
