Retired from MMA, Jon Jones became the target of criticism and praise after Dana White announced the end of his professional career in the UFC. Former heavyweight champion (up to 120,2 kg), the American is considered by many to be the greatest athlete in the history of the sport, due to his great victories and achievements throughout his journey in the Ultimate.

Amidst beaten rivals, Jones was marked by his hateful relationship with Daniel Cormier, a fighter who he overcame twice in a confrontation in the octagon. Despite all the circumstances, the commentator opened up and admitted that his compatriot is indeed a unique being when the doors of the 'cage' close.

“I can tell you without a doubt… I hit the Stipe Miocic, I was the UFC light heavyweight champion, the Strike Force heavyweight champion. I have never been better than in that fight in Anaheim (UFC 214, rematch with Jones). That was the best version of me and he beat me. That is why I will always respect him for his talent. In that octagon there is no one like him”, declared Cormier on his channel. YouTube.

The fight mentioned by Cormier, at UFC 214, ended up being officially recorded as a 'no result' after Jones failed a drug test. At the time 'DC' was knocked out after receiving a high kick to the head that stunned him and allowed Bones to apply a series of blows until the referee separated and declared the fight over.
