Seeking his second consecutive victory and ready to put on a show at UFC 316 , Vicente Luque ended up tasting his own medicine in a duel against Kevin Holland . A specialist in applying the triangle choke, the Brazilian was forced to tap out after his opponent locked in a precise submission hold in the second round of the fight.

Victorious in his last appearance, Luque was expecting to take another step into the top 10, a place he had previously occupied. Despite the setback, the athlete expressed his satisfaction with the episode and congratulated his rival for the achievement. This was the athlete's seventh defeat in the organization.

The duel began with both fighters cautiously studying each other, until Kevin Holland threw a kick, Luque blocked the blow, and received a violent sequence of punches from the American. Despite the tense moment, Vicente withstood the pressure, remained standing, and accepted a violent exchange of blows. Although he wobbled and cornered against the cage, the Brazilian managed to land a counter-punch and intimidate his opponent, forcing him to back away. After both fighters had some good moments, the fight became more respectful in the final minutes of the first round.

In the second round of the fight, Vicente ignored his opponent's provocations and continued moving forward. Surprisingly, the American sought the takedown, put the Brazilian on his back and applied Luque's best weapon: an arm triangle. Adjusted, the athlete forced his opponent to tap out.
