In a video published on his YouTube channel, Ruffy recounted an episode behind the scenes at the weigh-in, when King Green tried to intimidate him by purposely bumping into his arm while walking with an American flag. The Brazilian, aware of the gesture, interpreted the attitude as a provocation and did not let it go: he went up to his rival and confronted him, making it clear that he would not accept this type of behavior.

“He wanted to intimidate me. It’s a move that fighters do a lot, it’s very common. He has a lot of energy, he’s a guy who can’t handle it and needs to let it all out by yelling or having that kind of reaction. Then, in one of those moments, he was walking around with the flag and bumped into me. When he hit me on the arm, it was a message he wanted to send. If I pretended nothing happened, I would have missed the situation… So, at that moment, I went after him and said: ‘Hey, bro, did you hit my arm?’ And he said: ‘Sorry.’ Then I turned around and stayed calm. I already sent him the message right there.”, he said. Mauricio Ruffy.
