Daniel Willycat derrotou Jeong Yeong Lee em duelo válido pela categoria peso pena (até 65,7 kg.), na segunda luta do card preliminar do UFC 315, na noite deste sábado (10). Este foi a terceira vitória seguida do brasileiro, que teve problemas para chegar ao limite da categoria na pesagem mas conseguiu quebrar uma longa sequência de resultados negativos do Brasil no Ultimate, de seis derrotas consecutivas nos últimos eventos. Já para Lee, o combate significou o segundo revés seguido na organização.

Brazilian adapted throughout the fight
The Brazilian began the fight using front kicks, while Lee invested in strong strikes to the waistline, in addition to precise jabs. At one point, the South Korean took Willycat to the ground after landing a strong straight punch, while the Brazilian attempted a kick to the body. Visibly stunned, Daniel went for the grappling match and held his opponent against the fence for a few seconds. From the middle of the round, the two became even more aggressive. Both landed good strikes, with Lee hurting Santos in the final part of the round.

The aggression continued in the second round. After listening to instructions from coach Diego Lima, Willycat came back with a new strategy. The Brazilian closed the distance with precise punches and quickly took the fight to the ground with great takedowns on three occasions. In addition to controlling the back at the beginning of the round, the Minas Gerais native ended the second half of the fight by landing good punches on the ground.
He takes another fall in the third round and passes the guard. Santos lands some good blows, takes the back and, despite having difficulty controlling his opponent, starts to impose a strong rhythm by forcing Lee to move backwards, alternating between takedowns and strong blows at close range.
At the end of the 15-minute fight, the Brazilian was declared the winner by unanimous decision, with all judges scoring the fight 30-27 in his favor.

Na primeira luta da noite, Bekzat Almakhan venceu Brad Katona por nocaute ainda no primeiro round, em duelo válido pela categoria peso galo (até 61,2 kg.). Com o triunfo, o cazaque conquistou sua primeira vitória na organização e se recuperou da derrota para Umar Nurmagomedov no ano passado. Por outro lado, o canadense amargou o segundo revés seguido e iniciou o evento de maneira negativa para os donos da casa.
Katona tried to move laterally and confuse his opponent with feints in the early stages of the fight. However, the Kazakh quickly understood the Canadian's movement pattern and began to land strong counter blows.
After hurting his opponent in a few exchanges of blows, Almakhan landed a strong uppercut to Katona's chin, knocking the veteran out in just 64 seconds. This was the Canadian's first knockout loss in his entire professional career.
