Jake Paul expressed public support for Alex Poatán after a suspicious post on the Brazilian's profile on 'X' (old Twitter), this Wednesday (7), suggested the UFC champion's dissatisfaction with the organization and threatened retirement. The YouTuber and boxer, who has already challenged him to a boxing duel in the past, highlighted the Brazilian's history of commitment to the company.

Amidst the controversy, Jake Paul — who challenged Poatan to a boxing match after knocking him out Mike Perry in July 2024 — used the X to defend the Brazilian. He recalled the times when the former light heavyweight champion (up to 93kg) had already agreed to 'save' the UFC, but later deleted the post.

“Alex Pereira has been the UFC’s savior several times. He fought four times in 11 months at the championship level on PPV. He always has my respect,” wrote the American, in an indirect criticism of the organization’s policy of engagement with its athletes.

On the afternoon of May 7, followers of Alex Poatán were surprised by a post on your profile in X. The text raised speculation about a possible break between the fighter and the promotion.

“I’ve always answered UFC’s calls, but if they want to play with me, we can do that […] I’ve thought about stopping fighting, and this could be the beginning,” the post said.

Poatan claims to have been hacked

Hours later, the Brazilian appeared in a video on social media to clarify. The former light heavyweight champion claimed to have been hacked (see here), reinforced the desire to continue competing and ruled out contractual problems with Dana White's company.

“I didn’t even know what happened — I was hacked. My relationship with the UFC is great,” said Poatan.

Jake Paul is considered an 'enemy' of Dana White. The YouTuber has a history of feuds with the leader, which is based on public criticism he makes about the way the 'boss' runs the organization, especially in relation to the payment of UFC fighters. He even suggested the creation of a fighters' association to fight for better conditions.
