The Brazilian legend José Aldo is about to return to the octagon. The former champion will face off against Aiemann Zahabi No. UFC 315, on May 10, in Canada. The local fighter revealed that he sought advice on facing the 'King of Rio' from another MMA legend: Georges St-Pierre.

The bantamweight (up to 61,2 kg) said, in an interview with the British website 'Bloody Elbow', that he himself sought out his compatriot to ask for guidance. 'GSP' used his own experience to show his 'pupil' the way.
“I wanted to be the first to tell him (St-Pierre) about Aldo, so I called him as soon as we agreed and he told me he is just a human. The biggest mistake I can make is to put him on a pedestal. He said he bleeds, he gets tired, he gets hurt, he has two arms, two legs and a head. He is not a god, he is not anything supreme,” Zahabi revealed to 'Bloody Elbow'.
The Brazilian's opponent used his mentor's own experience in cage to justify 'GSP's' reason for what he defends.
"He (José Aldo) is just another guy who fights well, who trains hard, who has a great fighting IQ, he's like you, but that doesn't mean he's not beatable. I think the first time GSP fought against Matt hugs, he put Matt hugs on a pedestal and basically explained to me not to do that like I did on that occasion. Just to go in there and fight him like I would fight him,” Aiemann said.
Recognized as the greatest champion in the history of featherweight (up to 65,7 kg), Aldo has accumulated feats such as seven consecutive title defenses between 2011 and 2015, with victories over names such as Chad Mendes (twice), Frankie Edgar e Korean zombie.
After moving to bantamweight in 2020, the Brazilian alternated results, but is coming off a loss to Mário Bautista in the judges' decision in UFC 307, in October 2024. The People's Champion has 32 wins and eight losses.
