The feeling of frustration on the part of Tom aspinall regarding the delay in the officialization of the unification of the belts against Jon Jones It's no secret to anyone, as it has been expressed by the interim champion over the last few months. In the opinion of Georges St-Pierre, former two-division champion and one of the greatest legends in UFC history, the British fighter should focus his energies on what is within his reach.
In a recent interview with fellow Canadian journalist Ariel Helwani, the Canadian gave Aspinall some important advice. In GSP's opinion, the British artist should not be confined exclusively to Jon Jones, as it is still uncertain whether the linear champion will actually go ahead with the plan to unify the titles.

“I think Tom needs to focus on the next task. I remember when I lost to Matt Serra, I was making the mistake of trying to focus on Matt Serra to get my rematch right away, but I had other fights before that. If he’s just focusing on Jon Jones e Jon Jones not coming back now, he's not focusing on the right thing. He needs to focus on what's next, because everything else is a distraction. The things that need to happen will happen. I don't know what Jon's going to do, but as a fan, I would love to see that fight, because in terms of legacy and achievements, Jon Jones “It’s the best. I understand Tom, he’s a proud fighter and he wants to beat the best, but now it all depends on what Jon wants to do, whether he still wants to do it, whether he’s going to be compensated well for it and all that. Tom shouldn’t focus on that, because it’s out of his control and he’s wasting a lot of energy focusing on that,” St-Pierre advised.
Tom aspinall became interim champion in November 2023, by knocking out Sergei Pavlovich No. UFC 295. The Briton, who has already defended his title against Curtis blaydes, in July of last year, recently became the longest-serving interim champion in history, surpassing the Brazilian Renan Barao.
